We started by finding the level of the house and marking it with a string. Then we dug up the area where the tiles would go, making sure to leave a space for the thickness of the tiles plus an extra 1/4 inch for sand. We then brought in cement tiles and laid them out, making sure to pack them down so they were level with each other. Once all the tiles were down, we filled the cracks between them with sand, making sure to pack it in tightly. Finally, we used a hose to wet down the sand and tiles so they would harden together.
